Our guidelines for Level 2

The Contemporary Yoga Centre will reopen for practice on Tuesday 2 June, strictly following guidelines set by the government and health professionals.

This is still a time of responsible action for the wellbeing of you, your family, friends and community. To maintain social distancing, there will be limited space in all classes — we recommended booking to secure your place. And if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms please stay at home.

For those who are immune-compromised, we invite you to join our wellness classes which are currently online.

Please follow our precautionary measures when attending class:

  • Wash your hands when you arrive and leave.
  • Bring your own mat, blanket and towel. (We have spare mats and blankets for loan.)
  • Bring your own drink bottle if you need water after class.
  • We will pause on any pair work.
  • All surfaces will be regularly sanitised, including floors.

The Contemporary Yoga Centre in Remuera, Auckland was first established in 2015 by some of Auckland’s most experienced and skilled teachers to offer an accessible, in-depth and sustainable approach to weekly yoga practice. Our mission as a collective of teachers is to provide a welcoming yoga centre that serves the local community.

We offer weekly classes, term courses, private lessons, a youth yoga program, also Weekly Wellness classes and more.

The weekly schedule offers a number of beginner friendly classes and courses to acknowledge that understanding the fundamentals is essential to developing a more subtle and refined approach to breathing well, moving well and being well.

All the teachers at Contemporary Yoga are qualified and skilled with an understanding of the body’s form and function. Classes are limited to 16 students to optimise learning.

Participants in Contemporary Yoga classes develop agility, resilience, mindfulness and a deeper understanding of easeful, functional, graceful movement. Elements of deep rest, meditation and mindfulness are included in the classes to support our everyday full lives.
